Cinema Paradiso

Eight-year-old Salvatore (‘Toto’), the mischievous son of a war widow, spends every free moment at the Cinema Paradiso, where he develops a friendship with the projectionist, Alfredo, who lets him watch from the projection booth.  The films have been censored by the local priest causing them to jump suddenly, bypassing a kiss or embrace - and the deleted scenes are piled on the projection room floor.

Giuseppe Tornatore’s film is a nostalgic love letter to cinema, with outstanding performances from Philippe Noiret as the projectionist and Salvatore Cascia as ‘Toto’.
