A Quiet Passion

A beautifully photographed and produced film about Emily Dickinson (Cynthia Nixon). As a young woman, Dickinson attended a female seminary but ultimately returned home to her family. Very opinionated and rigid in her beliefs and considered eccentric, she became more and more reclusive and preoccupied with death, suffering from depression which worsened over the years, and may also have been agoraphobic. Written and directed by Terence Davies and also starring Jennifer Ehle and Keith Carradine.
