Dead of Winter

A widowed fisherwoman (Emma Thompson), travelling alone through snowbound northern Minnesota, interrupts the kidnapping of a teenage girl (Laurel Marsden). Hours from the nearest town and with no phone service, she is the young girl's only hope. With gorgeous cinematography (the film was shot in Finland), Thompson’s Barb channels blunt good sense and resourcefulness to find a way out of a deadly situation - a story that highlights the heroism of older women.
