Ghost Trees

Here’s a treat for Hallowe’en!

This year, award-winning trio - poet Sara-Jane Arbury, artist Richard Gilbert and photographer Paul Ligas - were commissioned by the National Trust at Croft Castle, Herefordshire, to create a contemporary art walk and exhibition celebrating Croft’s ghost trees: the name given to ancient, dead trees that remain standing in the landscape.  Ghost trees are striking relics of lost woodlands: their pale, brooding, skeletal forms are timely reminders of the deepening crisis that nature faces.  But for trees, death is often the beginning, not the end.  Tonight, on this most ghostly of nights, Sara-Jane, Richard and Paul take you on a virtual tour of Croft’s Ghost Tree Trail, featuring images of their uncanny artwork, spirited poetry performances and live music from violinist Ben Lewis.
